The 'Our Way' project aims to contribute to the conservation, protection, promotion and development of natural and cultural heritage in Europe using greenways. The challenge of 'Our Way' is to make the greenways of the Region of Murcia and its European partners a resource for local communities and a means to protect and promote the heritage present in their territory.
The partners in Ireland (North and West Regional Assembly) and Poland (Podkarpackie Region) include in their plans lines of action based on the management of the Region's greenways, which is led by the Consorcio de Vías Verdes de la Región de Murcia, a key player in the 'Our Way' project. This project will contribute to the increase of the greenways of the Northwest, through the improvement of tourist services, as well as supporting the local economy and avoiding the seasonal nature of tourism in the Region. 'Our Way' began development in 2018 and is an approved Interreg Europe programme project with funding from the European Commission, whose role is to help regional and local governments across Europe ensure that investment, innovation and implementation efforts lead to integrated and sustainable impact. The Region of Murcia is working on an action plan based on 2 key actions:

ACTION 1. Creation, design and promotion of the slogan #VidaenCadaPaso

ACTION 2. Creation of a web-app to improve the visibility and services offered to final beneficiaries around the greenways in the Region of Murcia.

Expected impact

The project aims to improve coordination between the different key actors:

develop governance systems for managing Greenways
identify models and best practices for the protection and maintenance of Greenways
identify financial instruments and funding for Greenways, and
promote Greenways and product development.
Interregional cooperation is essential to identify, exchange and transfer practices between regions and, more importantly, to plan and prepare specific action plans to integrate lessons learned from interregional cooperation into regional policy agendas.

The Final Conference of the project will take place in Brussels on 28 September.
