EUROPEAN FINANCING
The current Multiannual Financial Framework establishes the investment prospects and new programmes to support and help address the political priorities of the European Union for the period 2014-2020.
The European Commission implements the Multiannual Financial Framework through two fundamental channels: direct and indirect fund management.
In the case of direct management, Member States and/or regions are responsible for setting up structural and investment funds. The proportion that the EU Commission allocates to regional and cohesion policy in the European Union budget for the next financial perspective is approximately one third of the total budget.
Within direct management are the programmes that develop through open calls and with international participation for specific projects. The volume of funding for this 2014-2020 period is more than 120,000 million Euros that is directly managed by the corresponding General Directorates of the European Commission or indirectly by its offices and agencies.
