MURCIA REGION OFFICE IN BRUSSELS
The Region of Murcia office in Brussels was created in 1989 and it is under the DG of European Union as well as the INFO
TASKS
- To monitor the decision making process and obtain research and information. Dissemination of information regarding legislative initiatives, actions and programmes of the European Union which affect the competencies or interests of the Region.
- To serve as a bridge for building contacts between socio-economic agents and regional authorities and representatives of EU institutions and other European bodies.
- To establish contacts with other European regions to promote interregional cooperation.
ACTIVITIES
- Analysis and dissemination of programmes, initiatives and EU legislation of interest to the Region of Murcia through regular contacts with the various European institutions. The aim is to ensure that those topics which could have a regional impact are adequately followed-up.
- Institutional representation of the Region of Murcia, ensuring and supporting the presence of Murcia in all forums to which the region belongs (Committee of Regions (CoR), European Association of Development Agencies (EURADA), Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR)).
- Promotion of the Region of Murcia's interests and leading lobby actions before European bodies and institutions.
- Advise on and submit projects under different Community programmes to the European Commission, as well as monitoring the evaluation process.
- Answer queries on European matters, such as those from the regional government – either public or private entities - or directly from citizens.
- Co-ordinate and arrange interviews and visits of political decision makers, and social and economic actors in the Region of Murcia with officials of European Institutions and other European Union bodies, either public or private.
- Contribute to a better understanding of the Region of Murcia in Europe, through the dissemination of information and organisation of different socio-cultural events.
