EUROPEAN SOCIAL FUND

It is the main instrument of the European Union in supporting the measures to be taken to prevent and combat unemployment, to develop human resources and to promote social integration in the labour market. It also provides funding for initiatives promoting high levels of employment, equal opportunities for men and women, sustainable development and economic and social cohesion.  

The ESF-Spain for the 2014-2020 period has a volume of 7,589.5 million Euros plus 943 million allocated to the Youth Employment Initiative. 

 THE ESF will focus its activity on the following objectives: 

1. To promote greater employment and labour mobility
2. To promote active inclusion and the fight against poverty or any other existing discrimination
3. Investment in education, learning and training on a permanent basis 
4. To improve the institutional capacity and efficiency of Public Administration

20% of the OP budget will be dedicated to promoting active inclusion and fighting poverty through actions addressed at disadvantaged people.
