What is IAMI?

IAMI is a European project funded by the Horizon Europe programme (Civil Security for Society), whose goal is to transform the way security, intelligence and investigative agencies identify and resolve entities (people, organisations, bots, etc.) in complex contexts.

Overall objective

The main objective of SocialForest is to develop a Transnational Forest Strategy and Action Plans based on an ecosystem approach, leveraging the services that forests provide to society and ensuring the sustainability of their management.

What does IAMI propose?

  • To develop an AI-based system that integrates both biometric data (such as fingerprints, facial recognition) and non-biometric data (such as behavioural patterns, activity, contextual analysis) to create an Identity-Attributes Matrix (IAM).

  • Using this IAM matrix, to enable multiple, simultaneous and rapid identification of entities, even in environments with incomplete, noisy or large-scale data — overcoming the limitations of current methods.

  • To detect false identities, bots or avatars, reducing false positives and increasing accuracy in security-related contexts.

  • To facilitate information exchange and international cooperation among European agencies (such as EUROPOL or INTERPOL) through a shared repository of identity attributes — strengthening the fight against terrorism, organised crime and transnational threats.

Why is IAMI relevant for the Region of Murcia and for Europe?

Because the Local Police of Murcia is participating in the project, directly linking our city to European policies on security, technology and innovation.

IAMI represents a strategic technological advancement for European security: the development of AI for intelligence and investigation places Europe at the forefront in responding to complex and transnational threats.

Moreover, this type of project demonstrates how cooperation between institutions, research centres and security forces is essential to tackling global challenges — and how regions like Murcia can play an active role in these processes.

What is happening now / next steps

The project’s kick-off meeting took place in February 2025 in Prague, bringing together all partners, including the Local Police of Murcia.

In the coming months, the IAM system will be developed: training of AI models, software integration, pilot tests, and validation in real environments.

Training activities, workshops and dissemination among European security agencies are also planned to ensure effective implementation of the tool in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
