The Future of Europe

The Conference of the Future of Europe is a series of citizen-led debates and discussions that will enable people across Europe to share their ideas and help shape our common future.

It is the first conference of its kind: it is a major pan-European democratic exercise providing a new public forum for an open, inclusive and transparent debate with citizens on a number of key priorities and challenges.

The European Commission President, Von der Leyen, has pledged to give Europeans a greater say in the EU's activities and the work it does for them. All Europeans, whoever and wherever they are, can participate.

The aim of the Conference is to reflect our diversity and to take Europe beyond its capitals, reaching out to every corner of the Union and strengthening the link between Europeans and the institutions that serve them. To this end, multiple events and debates are organised throughout the EU in the framework of the Conference, including through an interactive multilingual digital platform. Young people are especially encouraged to participate and share their ideas in the Conference. European, national, regional and local authorities, as well as the civil society and other organisations, can also organise events involving as many people as possible.

President von der Leyen
«People need to be at the very centre of all our policies. My wish is therefore that all Europeans will actively contribute to the Conference on the Future of Europe and play a leading role in setting the European Union’s priorities. It is only together that we can build our Union of tomorrow». Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission
