What is IAMI?

IAMI is a European project funded by the Horizon Europe programme (Civil Security for Society), whose aim is to transform the way security, intelligence, and investigative agencies identify and resolve entities (people, organizations, bots, etc.) in complex contexts.

General objective

The main objective of SocialForest is to develop a Transnational Forest Strategy and Action Plans based on an ecosystem-based approach, making use of the services that forests provide to society and ensuring the sustainability of their management.

What does IAMI propose?

To develop an artificial intelligence–based system that integrates biometric data (such as fingerprints and facial recognition) and non-biometric data (such as behavioral patterns, activity, and contextual analysis) to create an Identity-Attributes Matrix (IAM).

Using this IAM matrix, the system will enable multiple, simultaneous, and rapid identification of entities, even in environments with incomplete, “noisy,” or massive data—overcoming the limitations of current methods.

To detect false identities, bots, or avatars, reducing false positives and increasing accuracy in security-related contexts.

To facilitate information sharing and international collaboration among European agencies (such as EUROPOL or INTERPOL) through a common repository of identity attributes—strengthening the fight against terrorism, organized crime, and transnational threats.

Why is IAMI relevant for the Region of Murcia and Europe?

Because the Murcia Local Police are participating in this project, directly connecting the city with European policies on security, technology, and innovation.

IAMI represents a strategic technological advance for European security: the development of AI for intelligence and investigation places Europe at the forefront in addressing complex and transnational threats.

In addition, projects like this demonstrate how cooperation between institutions, research centers, and security forces is key to tackling global challenges—and how regions such as Murcia can play an active role in these processes.

What is happening now / next steps

In February 2025, the project’s kick-off meeting took place in Prague, with the participation of all partners, including the Murcia Local Police.

Over the coming months, the IAM system will be developed—covering AI model training, software integration, pilot testing, and validation in real-world environments.

Training activities, workshops, and dissemination among European security agencies are also planned, to ensure the tool is implemented effectively and in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
