The initiative seeks to promote the development of the new generation of urban digital twins

The Murcia City Council is participating, along with six other institutions from Spain, Greece, Denmark, and Cyprus, in a European project to connect urban digital twins and share data, services, and technological solutions aimed at improving city management.

This is the European project “Municipal,” funded by the European Commission, which kicked off this Tuesday with a working session in Murcia to define the project's initial actions, according to a statement from municipal sources.

The participating institutions will develop their urban digital twins and share them with the other members to exchange information and services.

The goal is to improve the application of technology in fields such as mobility, energy efficiency, urban planning, and public service management.

The initiative is part of the Digital Europe Programme and aims to create a European federation of interoperable digital twins that will facilitate the secure exchange of information between public administrations, promoting data-driven decision-making.

In addition to the Murcia City Council, the project involves the Greek company Ubitech, the Technical University of Denmark and the Danish company Ai-nergy, the Nicosia City Council (Cyprus) and the University of Cyprus, and the Spanish company Odins.

The initiative will last 18 months and has a total budget of approximately two million euros.
