More than 2,500 schoolchildren from the Region of Murcia participate in the 24th edition of the drawing competition “My town, Europe”
More than 2,500 schoolchildren from the Region of Murcia have taken part in the 24th edition of the drawing competition “My Town, Europe”, an educational initiative that in 2025 has reached its twenty-fourth edition and aims to encourage students to learn about the European Union and the importance of belonging to it.
The competition seeks to help schoolchildren understand the role of the European Union, learn about its institutions and the territories that make it up, as well as the impact that EU membership has on their municipalities and on their everyday lives. To this end, prior to the competition, participating schools were provided with educational resources about the European Union, both online and in printed materials, which supported classroom work.
Through their drawings, the children have expressed their vision of Europe from their closest reality, reflecting values such as unity in diversity, coexistence, the absence of borders, and peace.
In the 2025 edition, 25 preschool and primary schools from the Region of Murcia took part, from the municipalities of Alcantarilla, Alguazas, Blanca, Cartagena, Cieza, Cehegín, El Esparragal (Murcia), Espinardo (Murcia), Fuente Álamo, Jumilla, Lorca, Molinos Marfagones (Cartagena), Morata (Lorca), San Javier, Sangonera la Verde (Murcia), and Torreagüera (Murcia).
The awards ceremony, with prizes consisting of teaching and educational materials, will be held on the occasion of Europe Day, during the first week of May 2026, and is structured into the following categories:

In each category, a first, second, and third prize have been awarded, as well as a special prize for students with special educational needs. In addition, the finalist drawings illustrate the “My Town, Europe” 2026 Calendar.

The “My Town, Europe” drawing competition is an initiative of Europe Direct Region of Murcia, an information center of the European Commission attached to the Directorate-General for the European Union of the Regional Ministry of the Presidency, Spokesperson’s Office, External Action, and Emergencies of the Region of Murcia.
